At Camp Lakota, athletics aren’t about who starts on the first team; they’re about stepping onto the field, trying something new, and discovering what you’re capable of. Our Athletics program is built for kids of all skill levels, from the competitive athlete looking to sharpen their game to the kid who’s never held a tennis racket and wants to find out what the fuss is all about.
As an ACA-accredited camp, our facilities and programs meet rigorous safety and quality standards, so families can feel confident about every moment their child spends on the court, field, or rink.
Our Athletics program features a wide range of sports across some of the best facilities in sleepaway camping. Campers can explore any combination of:
All activities are available to campers across every age group. Explore our full list of activities to see what else is waiting at Lakota, or see what a day at Camp Lakota is like.
New York has no shortage of summer camps with sports programs, but here’s what sets Lakota apart:
Whether your child wants to dominate the basketball court, try pickleball for the first time, or compete in intercamp games, Camp Lakota’s athletic activities have a place for them.

Camp Lakota’s Athletics program includes soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, basketball, tennis, pickleball, beach volleyball, street hockey, GaGa, skateboarding, and intercamp competitive games. There’s something for every type of athlete, from the kid who’s played travel sports for years to the one trying a new sport for the first time.
Not at all! Our Athletic activities are designed for all skill levels. Whether your child is a competitive athlete or a complete beginner, they’ll find activities they enjoy and staff who meet them where they are. The goal is fun, growth, and confidence, not top tier performance.
Lakota does offer private tennis lessons and intercamp competitive games for campers who want to push themselves further. We also have skilled coaches on our staff who can work with more advanced athletes while keeping the experience fun and camp-appropriate. However, Camp Lakota is not a sports camp, so don’t expect any specialized athletic training to dominate any given camp session.
Yes, athletic activities are available across all divisions, from our youngest Braves through our senior Chiefs. Activities and intensity levels are naturally adapted to each age group, so every camper is appropriately challenged.
Yes, all standard sports and athletic activities are part of Camp Lakota’s daily program and included in tuition. However, private lessons can also be added on for an additional cost. Visit our Dates & Tuition page for complete cost details.
Lakota’s campus includes a full basketball complex with a professional scoreboard, seven all-weather tennis courts, four new pickleball courts, five beach volleyball courts, a skateboard park, and multiple fields for soccer, baseball, softball, and lacrosse.
